2010-11 Cabled Fingerless Gloves

2010-11 Cabled Fingerless Gloves

Another pattern completed. These are my favorite things to make. I work in cold offices and tend to have frozen fingers that have to keep typing away, so I’ve made a few pair of these and decided to write down the pattern. I’ve attached the downloadable pdf document but would appreciate a donation either through Ravelry or Etsy. The gloves are made out of Caron Simply Soft yarn but would work with any worsted weight yarn. My hands are on the smaller size and these are knit with size 5 needles. They do stretch. If your hands are on the larger size, please use size 6 needles.

Christmas Gift Ideas Cabled Stocking

Gift Idea #6 – Cabled Knit Stocking

I don’t know if anyone had noticed, but I love cables. Love, love, love cables. I may not love following intricate patterns and getting lost among the twist 3 back purl 1 fronts of patterns and losing my place but I love the look and texture of patterns. I was looking for a knit stocking pattern because a list of Christmas gift ideas is not complete without at least one stocking and found this. It is so simple and yet elegant. The pattern is a bit more difficult than the previous ones I’ve picked but it looks to be well worth the time and effort.

2010-09 Cabled Pillow #4

I love cables and decided to make a few little things with yarn I already have in stock. These pillows make great gifts and are a lovely simple adornment to any home.

I used Caron Simply Soft yarn and size 5 needles. The gauge is 5 stitches and 6 rows = 1 inch in stockinette stitch, creating a pillow that is about 10 x 10 inches in size stuffed.

With right sides together, sew together the edges of the pillow. Leave about a 2-3 inch opening. Turn pillow so that right sides are facing out, stuff with fiber fill of your choice and seam together 2-3 inch opening. Triple Cabled Scarf

Sorry I haven’t been around lately.  After the wedding, the visitors, the honeymoon and the job stress, I wound up taking a small hiatus from knitting.  I made some Christmas ornaments for family members.  Now, I’m preparing to go back to NY for Christmas and while they enjoy their snowstorm, I know I am going to freeze.  Living in Southwest Florida has been a blessing for me, but has spoiled me to cold weather.  I used a pattern from ravelry to make a floppy beret to keep my head warm and wanted to make a scarf that would go.

This is my Triple Cabled Scarf made with Plymouth Alpaca Prima yarn double strandled with size 10 straight needles.  I am in love with this scarf!  The yarn had been in my collection for well over a year, waiting for the perfect project.  Thank you Gabriella’s Yarn Shop  for this!  She no longer has this in stock, but she has many many great yarns.
